As Australia navigates out of the pandemic, recent floods and growing inflationary pressure, all eyes will be on the Government's continued response.

When will the 2022 Federal Budget be held?

The Federal Budget will be delivered in Parliament by Treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

Usually the Budget speech is made on the first Tuesday in May, however with the upcoming Federal Election the Federal Budget will be delivered earlier, on Tuesday 29th March 2022.

What to expect from the Australian Federal Budget

A much stronger economic outlook for Australia is likely to see a sharp improvement in the fiscal position in the 2022-23 Australian Federal budget.

Commentators expect the Australian Federal Government to spend more and cut taxes, given the impending election.

What to expect

Experts believe the likely ‘big ticket’ items in the budget will continued tax cuts. No doubt there will be targeted spending in other areas but the government will likely want to show a solidly improving fiscal position over the forward estimates.

All budgets are important, but the one being framed now will have a particular impact on the economy, the level of debt and the prospects for the Coalition in the upcoming election.
